South Tyneside Green Party were in South Shields this week to support Friends of the Earth’s week of action against fracking, and to call on Barclays to stop funding fracking.
Barclays owns the company Third Energy, who recently got approval to frack in Ryedale, just a short way down the A19, despite thousands of local objections.
The political system has failed us here and we need to take control of what happens to our countryside, the air we breathe and the water we drink. Fracking threatens all of these.
We’re demanding that Barclays put public health ahead of private profits, that they listen to the many, not the money and that they stop funding fracking.
